Tubeless knobbies. A hot trend for 2001 will be mountain bike tubeless tires, coming from Specialized, Continental, Geax, Michelin, and others. By eliminating the tube, it’s possible to run lower pressures and drastically improve the ride (no chance of pinch flats). Our favorites so far are Specialized’s 2Bliss models ($45 to $55), not just for the clever name, but because unlike most others, their tubeless models fit most rims (the others require special rims), so upgrading costs far less.
