Made entirely from tig-welded 4130 chro-moly steel
the bike sports 10.5" of fully-active rear travel
an adjustable head tube angle
Though the 10.5" of travel seems huge, the TMX is not a large bike and features a ton of adjustability. Run it short with a 16.75" chainstay, or set it extra long at 18.25". The head tube angle adjusts + or - 3 degrees allowing a perfect setup whether you're running 26/26, 26/24, or 24/24. The head tube angle adjustability also allows for forks with 6" to 10" stroke.
At the back of the bike, rear travel and shock rate are both adjustable. In addition, the new FOX 2.75" stroke x 8.75" eyelet shock can be used to produce slightly less travel (8" to 9.75"). The TMX features our dual chain Independent Drive System. If you're not familiar with this system, the reasoning behind it is very simple: it works and it works well. Once you experience this system, you will feel the difference in every other full suspension bike. There is no drivetrain induced shock compression (which robs pedaling power). There is no drivetrain induced shock lockout (which robs suspension travel). There is no chain grow at all!
Through this system, the derailleur handles only shifting duty, not having to take up chain slack due to suspension movement. This becomes crucial on a bike with 10.5 inches of travel. This system, combined with the new full floating, four bar disc brake system lets the rear suspension function fully independent from both what the rider is doing (hammering, sitting, skidding, doing a dead sailor, sipping a soda...) and from the terrain (smooth whoops, baby heads, staircases, house drops...). Once you start riding this system, you will be able to feel the chain tension effecting the suspension on almost any other bike, even ones you thought were independent.
