Quick question: how's the offroad trails in Korea? I see many people with hardtail (at least many people posting photos of hardtail). I know it's lighter. But where I live, Full Suspension is highly recommended. There are just too many trails that requires you to be on FS. Here's photos of couple of friends of mine in action on a recent trip.

My apologies for not being able to type and write in Korean. I left Korea 30 years ago when I was very young. I didn't intend to cause any difficulties. I had assumed, since English is being taught in Korea that a general communication was possible. I can read Korean and get general idea of what is being said, so a reply in Korean was not an issue for me. Also it didn't occur to me to use a translator.

So here goes...

한국어안에 타자를 치, 쓴을 위해 나의 사과. 나가 아주 젊을 때 나는전에 한국을30년 떠났다. 나는 어떤 곤란을 일으키는 원인이 된것을 예정하지 않았다. 일반적인 커뮤니케이션은 가능했다 고 영어가 한국에서 가르치고 있기 때문에, 나는 추측했었다. 생각날 말하고는 것을의 나는 한국사람을 읽, 일반적인 아이디어가 수 있는다, 그래서 한국어안에 대답은 나를 위해 문제점이 아니었다. 통역을 사용하기 위하여 또한 나에게 않아않았다.

왜 그럴까..한국은 하드테일이 많을 까나....물론 풀서스팬션이 좋기는 한데(저도 풀서스팬션을 탑니다.)..한국지형에서도 딱이지만...가격때문일까(미국에서의 가격 2배라고 보시면 됩니다.) 아마도 미국에서는 산을 탈려면 자동차에 자전거 싣고 좀 가서 타야되지 않나요? 산으로 자전거를 타야되는 시간이 많지만 한국에서는 도로를 타는 시간이 더 많아서 그럴까나.......하드테일이 많은 이유는.............무게가 가벼운 점도 있지만.........가격거품이 심해서....미국 가격의 2배가 넘는다는 사실 때문인 것 같네요. 산을 많이 안타는 이유도 있고..많은 분들이 도로만 타시니까..ㅋㅋ

apologizing my english.
So many Mountains in Korea. From soft and very hard.
My forein friend said to me, "Korea is heaven of MTB". He is newzealand people.
And,
I don't think that Korean people prefer a hardtail.
But,
Preference, price, weight, long raod to go to Mt.(Korean usually don't use a car when go to Mt.)
there are so many reasons.

급질 : 한국에서의 비포장도로 상황은 어떻습니까? (왈바에서) 하드테일타시는 많은 분들을 봐요(최소한 하드테일사진을 올리는 사람들 수를 보면) 하드테일이 가볍다는건 알지만 제가 사는곳에서는 풀서스펜션이 강추되네요. 여기엔 당신이 풀샥잔차를 타기를 요구하는 많은 길들이 있어요. 이건 최근산행중에 찍은 몇몇 친구들 사진이에요

first of all I think the rough and hardships are similar in average mountains. surely there are courses that make the novice riders and none-pro give off the mountain riding
and the number of the FS is as large as hardtail in Korea. nevertheless, if i explain the the prefence for the HT(hard tail)

1)the price as u know ( the cost performance ration )

2) MTB culture : in the beginning of MTB, the diversity of bike abilities is needed .
the performace not only for the Mountain but for the heave trail (none - mountain) and normal
roads like pavement is important for the beginner.for example in ma case , I tooked the HI-ten Steel bike before real MTB bike. so the speed in the pavement was so affected to the purchase of MTB as much as the curiosity for the riding in da mountain

3) the course or steps

i heard that the steps(for the upgrade may be? geez ㅋㅋㅋ)from the FT to the FS is helpful
for the novice. for instance, the weight control ability is so extended in the period of the H.T
what i wanna say is bike control ability .

so.. also i manage the H.T and think it was a good choice. the percentage of riding is rationed as 70% (pave and so odd ways) versus 30%(mountain) in the beginnig ma hips was so aching but the adaptation was not so far away something

무엇보다 저는 보통산에서의 길의 험준함이라든지 어려움은 비슷하다고 생각해요. 물론 초보자들이나 선수가 아닌 사람이 가기에 힘든 코스도 있죠
그리고 한국에서도 풀샥잔차는 하드테일만큼 많은데. 그래도 머 하드테일 선호도에 대해 조금 설명하자면요
1) 우선 가격 (가격대 성능비)
2) 엠티비 문화 : 엠티비 입문할때는 다용도 잔차가 필요한거 같아요. 그니까 산에서뿐만이 아니구 산이 아닌 비포장 그리고 포장도로같은 일반도로에서의 기능도
입문자들에겐 중요해요. 저같은 경우도 엠티비타기전에 하이텐스틸의 철티비를 탔는데요. 산에서 타면 어떤 기분일까하는 호기심도 컸지만 도로에서의 속도감도
잔차구매에 많이 영향을 줬거든요
3) 단계
입문자들한테는 하드테일로 타다가 풀샥잔차를 타는 그 단계가 도움이 된다고 들었어요. 이를테면 체중이동능력은 하드테일타면 많이 향상되거든요. 제가 말하는건 바이
크 조절 능력이에요

그래서 저도 지금 하드테일을 타고 있어요. 그리고 좋은 선택이였다고 생각해요. 라이딩비율이 포장과 임도가 칠십프로 산이 삼십프로 그래요 처음엔 엉덩이가 많이 아팠는데 적응하는데 그리 오래걸리진 않더라구요

왜 영어를 쓰시는지......????? sungchang님은 한글쓰는게 서툴러서 영어를 쓰는 것이고..한글 읽기가 가능한데...왜 다른 분들은 애써가면서 영어로 쓰시고 한글로 해석까지 달아서...ㅎㅎㅎㅎ...그냥 한글로 쓰세요.

저분은 한글을 읽을줄은 아는데, 쓸줄을 모르시니 못쓰시는거자나요^^
진짜 저도 아직 초보지만, 업글을 하게되면 풀샥을 사지 굳이 값비싼 하드테일을 사는 이유를 잘 모르겠습니다. 온로드 라이딩을 염두에 둔다면, 콜라고를 사버리면 되는건데.. 역시 올라운드를 염두에 둬서 그런걸까요?

testery and others: thank you for the information.
1. Price - that's understandable. At least in the US, the prices are dropping on the FS as FS become more popular. You can get decent start up FS for around $1000 US.
2. MTB culture - that's also shifting in the USA to the FS
3. Course or Step - I also thought the logical step was to start with hardtail and then upgrade to FS. I even thought that it was something that the bike industry created to sell more expensive FS over hardtail. Now that I have been riding FS for a year, I think this belief is misguided (wrong). On a FS, I am able to go much longer distance and feel much more refreshed even on the road. My back doesn't hurt as much. Testery, give FS a shot. It will be worthwhile.

하드 타시는분이 많은 이유라면 ~~~~가격도 있지만 그보다는 무게 때문이 아닐까요??
풀샥이나 프리라이드 좋은건 알지만 무게가 장난 아니고 가벼운건 너무 비싸고 ㅋㅋㅋ
무거운 자전거 끌고 다닌다는게 사실 부담스럽거든요 ^^;;
무게 조금이라도 줄이려고 투자 엄청 하는 사람도 있는데~~ㅎㅎ

가벼운 자전거로 달리는분들이 많죠~~
무거운거로 같이 다니려면 아마도 자전거 포기 하게 될지도 모르죠 ㅋㅋ

I think its because in korea, many people ride their MTB's for transportation. And on pavement hardtail's are better than full shocks. unlike in america, places are quite close together, And because of heavy traffic its sometimes faster to ride a bike than to drive your car. Many ride their bikes to work in korea, where in America, that's usually hard to do. Not only places are far away, but because the roads are nice and straight, its much faster to take your car.
