These photos were taken about two weeks ago.  This track is an old goldminers' trackabout 40 minutes' drive from Blenheim.


The track starts in a deer farm.


About 140 years ago the gold miners made this track through the forest.


I swapped bikes with my brother's girlfriend for the day.  She wanted to try my 5 Spot.


The track became steeper and rougher.


There used to be a goldminer's hut here.  From left to right, my brother Alex, my cousin Andrew, Hannah, Liz and Rowan.


We often stopped to look at the traes and admire the views.


The goldminers cut down many trees, but not this one I think.  The forest has regenerated very well.

Night lights are very handy (convenient).
