I built up my Checkpoint with the idea of saying "Yes!" to any of our local trails around SLC. There are many great 20-ish mile rides you can do from your door before work and I was in need of a bike that would be fast on the road and fun on single track. Just to see what the bike could do, I set it up with Bontrager's XRO 2.0 mtb tires. A little goofy, no doubt but so much fun! I was surprised by how much it felt like an mtb when ripping through our rocky single track. Not only does it ride fast and fun in the dirt, it's no slouch on the roads either. I've set new PR's on all my favorite road rides with this setup as well. The final build, even with a 2x and those huge tires is still super light. The frame and wheels put loads of power straight into the road when you really throw down making the hills seem somehow flatter. It's the best! This is likely the most fun bike I've ever owned.
