We'll say it right from the top - we are 100% biased when it comes to Craig Calfee. We are Calfee fans, Calfee enthusiasts, Calfee acolytes, and if we lived closer to his xx workshop, we would probably be Calfee stalkers as well! Where does all this enthusiasm for Calfee Designs you ask? From a few things actually, but the top five list would read as follows:
1. Craig is a true carbon pioneer and he made the bikes raced
by Greg LeMond in the 1991 Tour de France - the first full carbon bike to win a TdF stage!
2. Craig is the man who pioneered the use of bamboo tubing for high performance Calfee bamboo bikes.
3. When the history books are written, Calfee (along with Colnago) will be known as
the first to run the battery for Shimano's Di2 electronic drivetrain internally.
At last year's Interbike trade show he went even further with new prototype electronic gadgetry
that we're hoping to see production versions this weekend.
4. We tested his Dragonfly last year and everybody who rode the bike ranked it on their top three list of all-time great bikes.
5. Thanks to his in-house artists, Calfee bikes are among the most beautiful to look at.
Of the many bikes we look forward to seeing this weekend, those found in the Calfee booth are easily among the most anticipated.

Craig uses lug construction for his namebrand bamboo bike as well.
In his spare time he also has created Bamboosero which is a second tier of bamboo specific bikes that are made in Africa.
Another amazing story, that also gave rise to the world's first electric Di2 bamboo bike.
