'PURE CX 1.5' FORK
New for the EVO5 and keeping things bang up to date is the superb ‘PureCX 1.5′ full monocoque UD carbon fork.
This fork is based on the high quality ‘CXd’ fork that we fit to our Crosslight Pro6 frame and weighs just 478g, it offers precise steering and judder-free braking performance. For the EVO5, the forks are colour matched to the frame.
THE EVO5
Disc brakes are the big news in ‘cross at the moment and offer great advantages but for many top racers lightness, simplicity and purity of purpose still top the list. Crosslight frames helped to change the UK cyclocross scene when we introduced them many years ago and the Crosslight EVO has been the racers favourite for many seasons.
This latest version, the ‘EVO5′ retains it’s ‘pure race’ features. You won’t find slack angles, long head tubes, sloping top tubes, unnecessary bottle, mudguard or rack mounts and braking is done the traditional way. This frameset is designed around a very narrow brief, the main design criteria being ‘RACE WINNER’.
Although purity of purpose tops the list, this doesn’t mean that this frameset is behind the times. The tubeset is a mix of Easton Ultralite Taperwall and Kinesium with carbon stays aiding propulsion and giving huge mud clearance at the rear. The 'Ergo2' top tube is shaped for comfortable carrying, down tube is oversize but not TOO oversize to grab, cables run out of the way along RHS of top tube and clip neatly to wishbone, the drive side stay is oversized allowing us to do without a chainstay bridge which becomes a mud-trap, without compromising response and stiffness.

HEADSET: Integrated, 41.8ø upper, 51.8ø lower, for taper head tube. FSA No.42/ACB headset included with frame.
Both bearings are 'ACB', meaning 'Angular Contact Bearings'. The head-tube seat angle is 45º.
The headset drops into a tapered seat in the head tube and is tensioned using a headset tensioner within the fork steerer. Tensioning the headset centres it on the taper and prevents any play. The larger lower bearing allows a tapered steerer and larger crown. This gives sharper response and helps reduce flex under braking.

EASTON ULTRALITE RACE TAPERWALL:
Unparalleled fatigue strength and superb ride characteristics. Tapered butting gives a smooth transition between wall thickness's avoiding any stress raisers in the tube wall.
ULTRASMOOTH WELD PROFILE: This frame is joined using Kinesis developed smooth weld technology, giving tough, stress-free welds and clean appearance. The welding technique performed without secondary finishing or sanding, so weld bead and tube are left at full strength.
ProPulsion CROSSTAY: Developed for class beating tyre clearance, stiffness under braking and maximum power transfer.
aStay: Unique to our CX frames, an oversize driveside chainstay allows us to keep the back end light and stiff without the need for a mud collecting bridge.
Ergo2: The Kinesium ‘Ergo2’ top tube has been lightened and re-profiled, making it even more comfortable for carrying over longer distances, it is also wider and deeper where it meets the seat tube, helping to resist twisting forces along the front triangle.
